Childcare Agency of the Month Questions

Congratulations to Worcester Comprehensive Child Care Center for being Early Childhood Central's Child Care Agency of the Month for May!  We spoke with Gloria Sinclair, Director, about W.C.C.C. which is celebrating their 40th anniversary taking care of children.

What do you want the children in your care to gain while in your program?:

We offer a well-rounded curriculum designed to encourage the natural learning process of the young child. We provide an environment that is stimulating and well equipped to foster the growth and development of all children.

What sets your Agency apart from the other area Agencies?:

We have bilingual and multicultural staff that have a strong knowledge of the child development.

Do you have the resources to accept special needs children?:

We use Together For Kids, behavioral health consultation services. We also refer children to the Worcester Public schools for a preschool screening if we are concerned with the child’s development.

What is your Agency’s educational philosophy?:

An enriched environment and carefully planned activities encourage each child’s physical, emotional, cognitive and social development. All children grow and learn at their own pace. Children learn to master new skills while growing in confidence and independence. The bilingual and multicultural staff helps to create a child care setting that reflects the ethnic and cultural diversity of the families we serve.

Have you had an “aha” moment with a child and/or a surprising result from the use of a classroom activity?:

The preschool classroom has been saying the pledge of allegiance and parents are saying “I didn’t think he knew that”.

Is there anything else about your Agency that you would like to be mentioned?:

We are licensed, non-profit organization that is accredited by NAEYC. We are also working on the QRIS from the department of early education and care.  If you are interested in having a tour, please contact Gloria Sinclair, Program Director, at 508-852-3792 X17.
